Otro amor q llega

And the plans are set,
route: Santiago - Ushuaia, going thru Pto Montt, Bariloche, Rio Gallegos, Calafate, Puerto Natales and Pta Arenas
traveling by: bicycle most of the way, but I'll not be above somebody offering me a ride :-)
timeline: sometime april
Crew: Myself, Miki, Marta and Gaminedes.
The training has commenced -can't you see?- Sore butt cheeks will be the standard for the next couple of months. Looking forward to it.
I believe this trip will be more than before about the journey and not the goal, but just in case we picked a nice arriving goal: Ushuaia.
I promise some nice pics too, peace..

Otro amor q se va

And it seems I am cursed to stay alone, one more love leaves my life, and as the others, it was rapid, fast, furious and demential.
Crash and burned is the only way to live a life, right? :)

Plaza d' Armas

Our main square is where everything happens. to include all the stupid things the guy in the big building does, the president that is...
Beautiful Cathedral and balconies that take you back to a time where everything was slower, horse pulled carriages and some maybe some indians being slaughtered in the plaza next to this one. Boy! am I bitter today!
Look around the plaza to find many pirañitas and at the Palacio de Gobierno, great architecture that hosts the biggest pirañita of them all, damn, better quit writing today...
And to think at this time (2100 my time) you guys are just getting home... I miss (and envy) everyone of you my traveling friends, but the ladies a lot more...

Lima de Noche

Back in Lima, so I decided to show you the beautiful Ciudad d Reyes Tres veces Coronada.

Chau cachito

De Moscu a Polonia

The path I followed after leaving Moscow has been a path of history, more than a leisure trip, it has been cold water thrown at my face about the reality and the truth of some historical events.
Going to the political museum in St Petersburg, the Occupation museum in Riga, the KGB museum in Vilnius, the Refugee’s museum in Kaunas, and meeting the road museum that is the people walking the street...
People tell you history as they lived it. Seeing the distance growing bigger and bigger between Latvians and Russian Latvia residents breaks me. Such a small place with two faces totally opposite from one another. It seems to me like nothing more than a time bomb.
Destruction, genocide, murder... just pure hate. Coming into this trip and despite my cynicism, I didn’t believe, or didn’t want to believe, that actual evil could exist. Pure and unaltered evil, not just times when somebody does something bad, but true, consistent, planned evil. I´ve come to realize it does exist.
And these people have lived it. Walking through the streets you can see the uneasiness, uneasiness of a society who has been free for less than 20 years, uneasiness of a society that has their freedom taken away more than enough times, uneasiness of the possibility of it happening again as this world moves “forward.”
Tomorrow, the last piece of this trip through history, Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps. Not a happy spot but one I believe is necessary in everybody’s life to understand the past…

Dosvedania Russia

After all this time (15 days later) trying to leave Russia I’m finally able to do so today, and as I wait for my train out of here I take a long stroll through the city that has seen me day in and day out for 5 weeks. And it's just today that I realize I don’t really want to leave... the irony. Plus today is Thursday Tango so what better a reason to stay just one more day…
I’ll miss the crowded metro, and the babushkas elbowing you in the ribs to get in front of you in the queue... I’ll miss Pasha saving me his last rotisserie chicken at 9 o’clock, and Masha with her everyday smile when giving me my blini (pancake) with nutella...

I'll miss poor Anya giving me rides back from tango so I won’t have to leave at one o’clock with the last metro... Russian bands playing Spanish songs, really!!... Igor, the receptionist, who is never to tired to drink vodka... Sveta trying to convince me to learn pashtu… I’ll miss the sight of St Basil early in the morning as I stroll back to the hostel from a short salsa night, early in the morning, when there is nobody at Red Square; just a few drunks, St Basil and I… but I should return next year and hope everything stays the same, or not, at least till I see them again…

That time of the year

Its that time already. Like every year, time to unplug my phone and cut the virtual umbilical cord of emails. Just for a few weeks... will be ok, promise... talk to you from Peru....

Around Mockba

Finally left Moscow and went for a bike ride along the golden circle. Marvelous, just what i wanted to see and the people i wanted to meet. Pity the weather was truly awfull: rain, rain and freezing rain, but the sights were incredible. Just like back home all this small villages with astounding churches are just incredible. Getting a bit homesick but is the last strecht, few more countries, few more days and grandma here I come....

Problems con Roscacova

So far Moscow is good. Will say awesome but not knowing the language really eers me. People have been awesome though. Nothing of what I had thought of russians being cold and distant... Now the bad news, after an awful hangover, this morning I realized I had lost my bag with most my belongings inside to include my passport, the next few days will prove to be exciting...
Other than that, work is hard with the language certificate, not really hard but definitely lots of work...
Till later....

Finito

And that is it for me. Next time Ill be writing from the summer camp. Grazie to all the people Ive met on the way, I better not put names because Im afraid Ill forget one: all the tips I got from you, the company we kept, the beaches we found, the volcanoes we walked up to, the endless dancing nights, the endless dancing nights (is not a typo, it deserves to be said more than once). Glad I met you, hope to stay in contact. Baci to you all, ciao belli…

Last Trek

My last two days of vacation. I picked a trek taking me across most of the Ligurian Riviera, from PortVenere to Camogli, walking across Cinque Terre and the Portofino peninsula. Great trek, a little crowded at times by tourist but was able to avoid them by taking the harder trails (most tourist don’t like t sweat). Plenty of food on the way, as I walked thru vineyards and farms. Couldn’t enjoy the sunset as I hit a pretty deep valley at the time, but made sure I was there for the sunset. Slept on a cliff overlooking the Riviera and was woken up by some fishermen with their motorboats just in time to see BOB (big orange ball) come up. Pretty. My favorite part? Walking into this small village, sorrounded by 3 mountains and a open in the ocean. Nice.

Genova

Once more I am taken aback by the Italian spirit. The Republica Genoese went through a lot to get to their place today and they wear it proudly. Sons of coal workers, fishermen, ship repairmen, is what inhabits this city today, and are not ashamed to tell you, on the contrary, they made a museum about it. Nice city. Pretty good mix of renaissance and medieval style, just across the street from each other!

Siena

Jugula

Grandeur does not begin to describe Rome. You certainly get a feel of awe when walking in the streets of at one point in time used to be the center of the world (now relocated 2 blocks down from my grandparents). As I was walking down the forum I tried to imagine the old days, everybody yelling and screaming: toga, toga, toga!!!! It must have been pretty crazy.
The Vatican? I better not get started on how much they have stolen, destroyed and plundered. All of the art, all that money, all that “showing off”,why? I wonder. Some feelings of anger were brought up, but also have to admit there was some awesome art. The Rafaello room took me a bit to peel away from. In short, things that caught my emotions (this kind of work, does just catch your eye): the terror in Medusa’s eyes as Perseo is holding her head, the emotionless look in Maria as she holds her son, the contempt in Rafaello as he looks at himself drawing, the disgust and anger in Aristoteles as he argues with Platon. Wish I knew more about art…. I really like the cherub/eros small statues. They looked devilish, just the way I felt that day….
